We welcome your participation in i-CREATe 2027!
It is my distinct pleasure to welcome you to i-CREATe 2027, the 19th International Convention on Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology, hosted by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in the dynamic city of Kuala Lumpur. This international convention brings together researchers, academics, industry partners, healthcare and clinical practitioners, policymakers, and end-users to exchange knowledge, share emerging perspectives, and engage in meaningful dialogue on the advancement of rehabilitation engineering and assistive technologies.
Guided by a shared commitment to enhancing the quality of life and promoting greater independence and participation for people of all abilities, i-CREATe 2027 highlights the increasingly important role of engineering and technological innovation in addressing contemporary challenges in healthcare, rehabilitation, accessibility, and mobility. By strengthening the interface between engineering, science, clinical practice, and human-centred design, the convention seeks to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and encourage the development of solutions that are innovative, accessible, practical, and responsive to the needs of individuals and communities.
The convention provides a comprehensive platform for the dissemination of original research, emerging technologies, translational developments, and applied innovations across a broad spectrum of rehabilitation and assistive technology disciplines. Through keynote addresses, technical and scientific presentations, interactive workshops, technology demonstrations, and scholarly discussions, participants will have opportunities to exchange expertise, establish new collaborations, and contribute to the advancement of knowledge and practice in the field. Importantly, these exchanges are intended not only to advance scientific and technological understanding, but also to ensure that innovation remains firmly grounded in societal needs, clinical relevance, and the lived experiences of end-users.
Kuala Lumpur provides a particularly meaningful setting for this international gathering. As a diverse and rapidly evolving urban environment, the city reflects many of the real-world contexts in which rehabilitation and assistive technologies must ultimately function. Hosting i-CREATe 2027 in Malaysia reinforces the importance of translating research beyond laboratories and academic institutions into solutions that are practical, affordable, inclusive, and sustainable across different communities and socioeconomic settings. It is through such translation that engineering innovation can make a tangible and lasting difference in people's lives.
On behalf of the Organising Committee, I warmly invite you to participate in i-CREATe 2027 and to contribute your expertise, experiences, and perspectives to this important international dialogue. We look forward to welcoming you to Kuala Lumpur for a convention characterised by scholarly exchange, interdisciplinary collaboration, technological innovation, and a shared commitment to improving lives through rehabilitation engineering and assistive technology.
Together, let us advance innovation, expand possibilities, and create a future without barriers.
